Setting Up Required Email Consent

Give your attenders more control over what emails they receive from you. Turn this feature on, and a checkbox will appear when people create an account that allows them to opt in to your future email communications.

Should you use this feature?

We understand that ministries like yours work to make strong connections with your audience. However, recent changes to digital privacy laws in some countries require that your attenders give specific consent to use their data, including their email address. We allow you to choose the level of coverage based on your own legal council and adherence to the laws of your governance. If you are in doubt about which option to choose, we advice you to require consent for everyone. Do note: this will likely limit the email addresses you receive from account sign ups.

You can always adjust this setting at a future date which will only effect new account signups.

  1. Go to Admin>Setup
  2. Click on "Church Info"
  3. Scroll toward the bottom
  4. Select the audience you want to set up required email consent:
  • For No One: No users will see the option to consent to receive email from your church.
  • For people in EU only: An 'opt in for email' checkbox will appear in the signup modal for any user from the European Union who is signing up for an account in your Church Online instance.
  • For Everyone: An 'opt in for email' checkbox will appear in the signup modal for any user signing up for an account in your Church Online instance.
  1. Click "Save"
